What makes a ring take longer
- Detailed bands — milgrain, hand-engraving, micro-pavé — add 1–2 weeks.
- Toi-et-moi and three-stone rings add 1 week for the additional stone matching.
- Vintage-inspired settings with hand-set accent stones add 2 weeks.
- Coloured stones or natural diamonds can add 1–3 weeks of sourcing, depending on the spec.
- Refinement loops — most clients refine the design once or twice between sketches and wax, which adds a week or two and is part of getting it right.
Can it be done faster?
Sometimes. If you’re working to a date, tell us when you submit your design. We can shave 1–2 weeks by running the wax and the stone selection in parallel, and another week by accelerated shipping to and from the workshop. Beyond that, the workshop schedule is fixed — the hand-finishing alone takes three weeks, and you can’t rush it without compromising the standard.
Working to a date? If we can’t meet it without compromising the standard, we’ll suggest a placeholder ring — a beautiful temporary stone in a simple band — for the moment itself, then we’ll design the real ring together afterwards. About a third of our clients do this.
