Help & FAQ

The honest answers.

Most of what people ask us, answered plainly. If your question isn’t here, email the studio — we usually reply the same day.

Pricing & quotes

Most of our commissions sit between $3,800 and $9,000 — but we’ve made beautiful rings for $2,200 and we’ve made them for $50,000. The stone is usually 60–75% of the cost. The online designer will show you exactly what’s possible at your budget, in real time, and we’ll never quietly upsell you into another bracket.
We don’t pay for a showroom, we don’t carry stock, we don’t pay sales commission, and we don’t mark up the stone three times to fund a window display. A ring that would cost $9,500 elsewhere costs around $4,800 with us — same stone, same gold, same finishing standard. The savings live in the model, not the materials.
Every quote we send has a line for the stone, the metal (by weight), the setting & finishing labour, certification, and our design fee. You’ll see exactly where each dollar goes before we begin. Stone and metal prices fluctuate weekly, so quotes are locked in for 30 days from sign-off.
The $200 design fee is credited against the final ring once you proceed. If you decide not to go ahead, the fee covers the time spent on the sketches and the wax — but you keep the sketches. No question is so awkward to ask.

The process

Ten to twelve weeks, door to door, for a typical solitaire or three-stone. More involved pieces — toi-et-moi, heavily detailed bands, vintage-inspired settings with pavé — can take fourteen to sixteen. If you’re working to a date, tell us in the timeline question of the designer and we’ll be straight with you about whether it’s possible.
Most of our clients don’t. Drop a Pinterest link, three Instagram screenshots, or a description of how they dress in the ‘anything else’ field of the designer. By the end of reading it we’ll have narrowed your ring to a metal, a shape, and a feeling, and we’ll send three sketches a week later. Nothing is final until the wax is in your hand.
Absolutely — and it’s one of our favourite ways to work. We’ll set you up with a beautiful temporary stone in a simple band for the moment itself, then design the real ring together afterwards. About a third of our commissions begin this way.
Yes. Most clients refine the design two or three times between the sketches and the wax — that’s exactly what those steps are for. Major direction changes are also fine, though they may add a week to the timeline. Once the metal is cast, changes become more difficult.

Stones & metals

Both. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically and visually identical to mined stones — and for the same budget you’ll get a stone roughly two to three times the carat weight. Natural stones carry a different kind of value: scarcity, provenance, sometimes a story. Once your design lands, we’ll send 60-second videos of three or four stones in your budget — both lab and natural — and let the stones speak for themselves.
All our lab-grown stones are carbon-neutral as standard. Natural stones come from suppliers we’ve personally audited — Kimberley-process compliant and traceable to a named mine. We don’t deal in ‘ethically sourced’ as a marketing line; if we can’t verify provenance, we don’t buy the stone.
Yes — heirlooms, inherited stones, or stones you’ve bought separately are all welcome. We’ll inspect, clean, and (if needed) re-certify before setting, with a written condition report. There’s no upcharge for using your own stone.
18ct yellow, white, and rose gold; platinum (950); and 9ct gold for wedding bands by request. All are independently assayed and hallmarked. We don’t work with palladium or silver for engagement rings — they don’t age well enough.

Shipping & delivery

Yes — every order, anywhere in Australia, by registered insured courier with signature on receipt. Delivery is included in every quote. We’ll send a tracking link the morning your ring leaves the studio.
Currently we ship to New Zealand on request. For other countries, please email us — we can usually arrange it through specialist freight, with duties and taxes calculated transparently up front.

Aftercare & warranty

Lifetime resizing, polishing, and prong-checks — at no charge, for as long as you wear the ring. Post it back to us insured, and you’ll have it returned within a fortnight. We also send a yearly reminder for a complimentary inspection. If anything ever needs structural repair from normal wear, that’s on us too. Insurance valuations are included annually for the first five years.
Lifetime against any structural defect in materials or workmanship. Five-year coverage against manufacturing defect, in line with Australian Consumer Law. Accidental damage and loss are not covered — that’s what your insurance valuation is for. We’ll repair anything we can, and re-make anything we can’t.

Payment & finance

A 30% deposit is taken when you sign off on the final design. The balance is due on delivery. We accept card, bank transfer, and interest-free instalments via Afterpay or Affirm for amounts under $30,000. Larger commissions we’ll arrange via direct deposit with a simple written schedule.
Yes — interest-free instalments are available via Afterpay (up to $2,000) and Affirm (up to $30,000), subject to approval. Longer-term finance is also available for larger commissions through Latitude. Finance options ›
